What is an heirloom tomato? Usually open-pollinated so each plant is slightly different. Thus the chances are higher that they will develop resistance to a pest or disease, as opposed to hybrids, which are genetic twins of each other. They are 80 years old or older and able to survive in their own backyard with a real homegrown taste you can't resist and will talk about for years!
